I negotiated the two blocks long gravel main street in St. Libory, NE – the Watermelon Capital of Nebraska – a few days ago and found my tires surfing on a sea of smashed pumpkins. The grain semi’s had already hit town before me that morning, flattening this fall’s bounty of orange fruit, a small portion of which found itself strung out through town as the picture shows. It’s an annual, extemporaneous event! I’d venture to say the little town, surrounded by colorful fields, is number one in pumpkins, too. HWB, LLC, 308-379-3261, or [email protected].
